The region of Murcia is a place that enjoys increasing recognition as a tourist enclave.

Often overshadowed by the beaches of Alicante or the coves located in Almeria, the truth is that little by little Murcia is gaining more and more followers who find in the region an incredible place to enjoy the best of the Mediterranean: its good climate, the sun, the best beaches and a unique gastronomy.

But far from its coasts and far from the summer, Murcia is much more than that, it is a place where culture and tradition, customs and its own gastronomy come together. A place that can enchant lovers of hiking and nature as well as lovers of good wine.

Although we sometimes hesitate about whether to tell you some of the best secrets that Murcia has to offer or to keep them to ourselves, today we are going to tell you some of the best things to do in Murcia when summer comes to an end and autumn arrives.

We hope you’ll listen to our recommendations and let us know what you think of your experience!

Here we go!

  1. Fuente del Marqués

Do you know the area of Caravaca? If this is your first time in Murcia, this is an important point. Impressive springs and water sources surrounded by nature and vestiges of the Middle Ages in the form of Templar constructions await you to enjoy a different day in Fuente del Marqués, one of the most privileged places we can find.

  1. Cañón de los Almadenes

Nature and adventure lovers have their place in the Almadenes Canyon. In addition to its biodiversity, which includes eagle owls, otters and various types of eagles, it is an impressive place for adventure sports, rafting, kayaking and canyoning.

  1. Disfruta de la ruta del vino de Jumilla

The Jumilla area is famous throughout Spain for the quality of its wine. Would you like to discover some of the country’s most outstanding vineyards and wineries?

A weekend of relaxation surrounded by grapes, nature, good weather and, above all, wine is a good option for a weekend of disconnection in a rural setting. The Jumilla wine, a wine with designation of origin, together with the extensive gastronomy of Murcia are a perfect combination for lovers of good wine.

  1. Santuario de la Virgen de la Esperanza

A sanctuary inside a cave? Surely it comes to your mind but no, you can’t imagine that the Sanctuary of the Virgen de la Esperanza, located in Calasparra, is a temple carved into the rock of the mountain since the seventeenth century. Undoubtedly, a basic place to visit, a place full of harmony, calm and tranquillity that we are sure will surprise you.

  1. Ruta de las Norias

The area of the Ricote Valley stands out for its water flow. An obligatory route is the Ruta de las Norias, through which we can see the importance of water on all the banks bathed by the Segura River and which takes us back centuries in history.

In addition, the one known as “La Noria Grande de Abarán” is the largest waterwheel in Europe that still works.

Apart from these ideas for the inland area of the Region of Murcia, you should not forget that we enjoy a pleasant temperature all year round, as well as more than 300 days of sunshine a year, which allows us to enjoy our marvellous beaches all year round.

Of course, not for bathing – or is it? The brave say that a good cold water bath in the sea is good for your health – but you can enjoy a nice walk or a good book while sunbathing and relaxing to the sounds of the sea.
